Secondary Math at EduReach Tampines: G1, G2 and G3

Under Full Subject-Based Banding, students take each subject at G1, G2 or G3. Students can take different subjects at different levels, so a child may take Math at a level that differs from some of their other subjects. EduReach Tampines offers Secondary Math at G1, G2 and G3.

Secondary Math builds on the primary foundation with a strong focus on algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics and probability, and on applying Math to real-life situations. Speed, which was removed from the primary syllabus, is introduced in Secondary 1, where students can approach it with algebra.

•       Lower Secondary (Sec 1-2): strengthening algebra, geometry and data handling, and making the jump from primary heuristics to secondary Math smoother.

•       Upper Secondary (Sec 3-4): preparing for the national examinations. Students who take Additional Mathematics also study calculus, which is not part of the core Mathematics syllabus.

It has courses for English, Math, Malay and Science, and all students have access to the LMS for the subject they enrol in. Students can use it at home, at their own level.

Realistic Expectations: How Soon Will You See Improvement?

Secondary Math builds on the heuristics and number sense learnt in primary school, so how quickly a child improves depends on how solid that foundation is. Progress often shows first in confidence with algebra and working methodically, then in accuracy, and later in test and exam marks.

Results also depend on attendance, effort on homework, school teaching pace and support at home. No tuition centre can guarantee a specific grade, and parents should be cautious of any that do.
